My Mexico Dog

For all you dog lovers out there and I know who you are. I'm adopting a six month old poodle/maltese puppy from the NM Lap Dog Rescue. This dog is very special, she is blind as was going to be put to sleep by suffactating her in a plastic bag. But due to the wonderful rescue groups out there she was saved and has found herself a new home. She is adorable and is from Mexico were so many people are trying to improve the lifes of dogs there. Go to my website and check out all the rescue clubs and support them instead of going to puppy mills and pet stores. I will be getting her next Saturday I will post a picture of her. Until then keep loving and helping out our four legged friends.
Best Wishes to all,

Ellen's Heartbreak

I wanted to comment on the dog story that Ellen adopted and then gave to her hair dresser. Several things went wrong here. First Ellen signed a contract stating she would return the dog if it did not work out. This is a standard contract that most dog rescues offer. It is to protect the dog from going to another bad home. Most of these dogs that are rescued have already been mistreated and neglected and need special homes and lot's of patience and love. I being a dog lover and one who has rescued several dogs understand the contract and who is it to protect. It's the dog who has no voice. The second mistake that happened in this case, the rescue organization should have been upfront with the new owner and explained what had happened. Not go to the home under false pretences. I'm sure the home Ellen gave the dog too was a wonderful and loving home, but that was not the issue. The main issue in this case is that she signed a contract. If she had returned the dog to the rescue group, her friends could have gone to adopt. These groups are no kill shelters. So...the cute little puppy would have been placed in a loving home. Some people may think that it shouldn't be this hard to adopt a pet. I disagree. When I have seen how some dogs are treated and abused you would want to make sure through the legal system that any dog you placed would have a wonderful home. It is sad that one rule broken can cause such heartache. I feel for the little girl and I feel for the little dog. But rules are in place for a reason. In cases where we the advocate represent special groups who do not have a voice, we have to follow the rules for their protection. I don't think people should be angry at anyone, because everyone in this case was just trying to love a puppy who wanted a home. The end result is that the puppy did find a loving home.

To all you literary people out there.

Today is Monday, just got another rejection in the mail today from a publisher for my novel, entitled, "A Cowgirl's Heart." It is a lesbian romance novel that takes place in 1904. I will not give up on this story, it is an endearing novel. Rejection is all part of the business. Any of you out there have the same experience. Keep writing, and reading. Until next time, be happy and be well. Teresa

Laura The Bichon Frise My New Home

Hey,
Laura has made a come back! I was at a book event yesterday, and several folks came up to me to discuss my children's book, Laura the Bichon Frise, My New Home. They shared their stories with me about reading the book to their dog, or to their grand-children. I'm so excited that you can still buy this book at amazon, or target.com. If you are a dog lover, and want a good story, here it is.
Also, as an author, I want to update you about my latest book. It is entitled, "No Shame, No Blame." An account of my life ages 5 through the year of eight. I examine my relationships with my siblings, my special bond with my Grandmother Allen, and my dog Dinky. This is a wonerful book that I dedicate to my Grandmother for all the lessons learned. I hope you will read these books and blog away about them. Let's get a reading room started shall we?
Until next time, read and be well.
